AMUM 2004Social Events / Gala Dinner
On the evening of Monday 26 April, there will be a reception held at NPL and hosted by Precision Acoustics Limited. On Tuesday 27th, there will be an informal reception at the Park Lodge Hotel immediately after the close of the scientific sessions. Delegates attending this may choose to dine afterwards in the hotel or in one of the many restaurants in and around Teddington. With all the hard work done, you will be able to fully relax and enjoy yourself at the conference dinner which will be held on Wednesday 28 April in the medieval palace of Hampton Court (www.hrp.org.uk). This promises to be a spectacular event: the palace became a royal residence in the 1520s, on its acquisition by Henry VIII from Cardinal Wolsey. Its Tudor buildings, surrounded by 60 acres of garden and 750 acres of park, are among the most important in existence, and William and Mary's improvements an outstanding example of the English Baroque. The interiors are enriched by a magnificent collection of furniture, pictures and tapestries, largely belonging to the Royal Collection and the complete Tudor Kitchens provide a unique site to the life of the period. The gardens include a maze and the oldest grape vine in the world.
